ALMS: Road America Results.

ALMS LogoRound seven of the 2010 American Le Mans series saw a resurgence of power in both LMP and GT categories. DraysonRacing achieved victory at the hands of young-ace, Johnny Cocker. Cocker’s last lap heroics enabled the team to take their maiden steps in victory lane. Podium finishes for both Cytosport and Highcroft entries ensure the championship race remains in contention.

In the GT category it was all about BMW and Rahal Letterman Racing. After a season of successful finishes, the team managed their first victory of the 2010 season courtesy of Dirk Müller and Joey Hand. Finishing a close second to the #90 BMW squad, Flying Lizard #45 extended their championship lead over rivals, Risi Competizione to a margin of eighteen points (previously eight).

Dome forfeits Le Mans 2010 entry.

After receiving one of the highly sought after Le Mans 2010 invites, Japanese team Dome has withdrawn itself from contention as of today. Head of Research and development at Dome, Hiroshi Yuchi has announced that the team will no longer be participating in the 78th edition of the endurance classic. Yushi cited budgetary constraints/insufficient sponsorship as the reasoning behind the team’s withdrawal.

As the first of the prototype reserves, Pegasus Racing team will inherit the entry forfeited by Dome. The Strasbourg-based outfit will enter its’ recently adopted LMP2 Norma-Judd (the first chassis designed to 2011 specification), providing a fitting return for the French chassis constructor.

OAK Racing shows off 2010-spec LMP2 Pescarolo.

Earlier today French team, OAK Racing unveiled their recently updated, 2010-spec Pescarolo-Judd LMP2 at a rain soaked Magny-Cours circuit.

Team driver Guillaume Moreau completed the first laps in the car. While partners Matthieu Lahaye, and team owner Jacques Nicolet are scheduled to receive their first taste of the revised car tomorrow.

Although dated, the still-competitive Pescarolo design has been revised to meet 2010 technical specifications, featuring significant adjustments to both front and rear body work.

The #35 car seen in testing is utilising what appears to be a reduced-drag setup. With front sections of the chassis (previously open) now sealed.

The chassis’ rear bodywork also experienced significant development over the winter. Now featuring a reworked diffuser with particularly distinguished, flared accents.

The extent of the changes can be seen in detail, below.
