In a surprise announcement today, PeugeotSport has revealed plans to compete in the inaugural running of the Le Mans Intercontinental Cup. The move comes as somewhat of a shock to both fans and organisers, given the French marque originally declared it had decided against participating in the first edition of the new series. Director of Peugeot sporting activities, Olivier Quesnel, had initially cited budgetary constraints as the reasoning behind Peugeot’s decision against participation.

Commencing at the final round of the Le Mans Series, the 2010 LMIC will consist of a single event from each ACO sanctioned series in Europe (Silverstone), North America (Petit Le Mans), and Asia (China-TBA).
